Accreditation for Growth

What is Middle States?

The Middle States Association (MSA) is the organization that will be evaluating our school and providing the accreditation.

What is Accreditation?

Accreditation encourages and facilitates school improvement.  This process involves the development and the successful implementation of a plan for growth and positive change within the school. Also, accreditation places additional value on our high school diploma.

Is the school already accredited?

The high school was last accredited is 1990-1991.  This accreditation has expired.  As a result, we are pursuing accreditation again.

Association.  Then, we will write action plans as to how to best carry out these objectives over the next several years.

What has already been accomplished this year?

  • The faculty, staff, and students completed surveys based upon the 12 standards set out by MSA.
  • All high school parents received information in the mail regarding the accreditation process.  Parents completed a similar survey on the school website.
  • Letters were sent to local community organizations (Elks, Lions, Rotary, Morrisville Business Association) informing them of the accreditation process and inviting them to become involved.
  • Information was given to the parent advisory group.  They nominated parents who would like to be a part of the planning team.
  • Teachers nominated students to be part of the planning team.
  • A team consisting of board members, parents, students, teachers, community members, and administrators has been formed.  This team has written a mission statement.  They will set goals for the school and develop plans to achieve these goals.
  • A PowerPoint presentation ran on the local cable channel.  The presentation provides more information about the process.
  • The Planning Team and a committee of teachers have begun to put together the necessary documentation to submit to  MSA.

What are the next steps?

The Planning Team will write 2-4 goals/objectives for the school.  They will also develop action plans for each goal.  Finally, a visiting team from MSA will evaluate our high school.

How can others become involved?

Part of the success of Accreditation for Growth is the involvement of the whole community. There are many ways that you can become involved.  First, please be aware of any information you may receive from the school regarding accreditation.  Share this information with other people whom you come in contact.  Also, talk to your high school student about this process.  Finally, if you would like to become more involved please contact one of the internal coordinators.
